Bend is a small mountain town sitting on the Deschutes River and is surrounded by the Cascade Range’s mighty peaks. which decorate the high-desert skyline. Previously a sleepy lumber town, Bend is now full of lovely boutiques, art galleries, breweries and cafes, with its surrounding area a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts looking for adventure and activity.
The Old Mill District offers visitors an eclectic mix of eateries, tasting rooms, shopping, river side trails and the Les Schwab Amphitheatre, Oregon’s largest outdoor concert venue. Bend currently has more breweries per-capita than any other city within the state of Oregon, therefore you may wish to sample and explore the ‘Bend Ale Trail’ – if beer isn’t your thing, than there are also plenty of distilleries and wineries to try instead!
The area is famous for the Newberry Volcano Monument which includes over 54,000 acres of lakes, lava flows and spectacular geological features including Lava Butte, the Lava Cast Forest and the Lava River Cave. As well as exploring the geological features, there are plenty more activities to enjoy, such as fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking and white water rafting.
