This pretty coastal town, very similar in style to a New England village, is a magnet for artists and romantics and is best known for its Victorian-era buildings, with restaurants serving the tastiest catch of the day alongside regional favourites such as sweet Dungeness crab, craft beers and wild mushrooms during the winter months.
Mendocino County has over 90 miles of coastline, with Manchester State Beach being a great spot to explore, whilst the pristine cove at Jug Handle State Reserve remains ever popular with the locals. Fifteen minutes north of Mendocino is Fort Bragg, famous for the historic Skunk Train: a 130-year-old rail line travelling through Redwood forests and the Pudding Creek Estuary where blue herons, osprey and egrets can be spotted.
With many other places of interest to explore like Montgomery Woods, the B. Bryan Preserve, the Goldeneye Winery and the Chandelier Drive Thru Tree in Leggett, the county of Mendocino will certainly provide some amazing memories for everyone.
