The wildlife found in California is simply amazing. The third largest state in the USA is so incredibly diverse, you will find so many different types of animals including the majestic elk, cheeky raccoons, weasels and otters, dam building beavers, hawks, lizards, owls, wild coyotes and cougars, beautiful black bears, humongous elephant seals and of course, mighty whales! You can go whale watching all year round and will see Blue Whales, Gray Whales and Humpbacks depending on the time of year. As well as the official state bird – the California Quail, there are over 634 bird species on the California Birds Records Committee, so it’s also a twitchers paradise!
